Update: A local crab fisherman has been charged with illegally dumping the mink carcasses. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
While the fur industry feebly attempts to maintain a pretense of being “green,” claiming all of the animal is used by being spun off into various byproducts, an incident this week in Oregon shows otherwise.
Over 1,000 pounds of skinned mink were found floating off the coast of Brookings, Oregon this week. The culprit was identified as a fisherman who was taking the carcasses out to sea to “dump” them, but the carcasses accidentally fell off the boat close to the shore.
